TRAIN YOUR HORSE TO: WAIT...
TRUDI DEMPSEY & SOOZ FOSTER
Does your horse understand how to stand and wait while you groom, pick out feet, open gates or chat to a friend? Is your horse calm and patient for the vet, farrier, physio or dentist? Will they comfortably wait when you walk away, or do they try and follow you?
This two week interactive course will help you develop the skills needed to train your horse to wait without frustration. No more turning your back to find your horse has crept up behind you or sneaked off to eat grass!
Equine behaviourists and trainers Trudi Dempsey and Sooz Foster host this friendly online workshop. You will have access to 2 weeks of learning – including video lessons, group discussions in a dedicated forum, downloads, training plans and (for full students) coaching with individual voice over feedback on your training videos to help you train your horse to stand relaxed.
You will learn how to:
• Use positive reinforcement (R+) training
• Break down your training goal into achievable steps
• Create the best training environment
• Avoid stress in training
• Build duration and distance
• Add a cue
• Use errorless learning
• Reduce stress in your training
• Plan your training successfully
• Set yourself and your horse up to succeed
• Collect data
There are two study options:
• 'Full student' for those who would like to train and have coaching and tailored voice over feedback on their training videos.
• 'Auditor' who has access to the video lessons and forum, but does not have feedback or coaching.
This course is aimed at horse owners, students and equestrian professionals interested in advancing their positive reinforcement training.
The course runs for 2 weeks.
All course material will be available for 30 days after the course has finished.

Read MoreI found this course super interesting and learned lots. I thought my horse knew what ‘stand’ meant…I was wrong! He knew if I stood still or maybe walked behind him, that he was probably going to stand still but, if I asked him to stand then I walked away in front of him, he’d follow! He was following different cues to what I’d thought. Trudi and Sooz talked me through this when I asked and explained everything in details to enable me to help educate my horse clearer. They also helped by showing me ways to reduce frustration shown by my horse which was invaluable for us. The course notes were easy to follow and read back on to recap as training went on. I also found watching other participants videos really helped and gave me lots of ideas to use myself. Even once the course was over I’ve been really motivated to keep it going and was invited to join a Facebook group where I can share our progress with others and see how everyone else is doing (if they wished to share). I highly recommend this course to anyone wishing to train cleaner and build a stronger relationship with their horse.

Read MoreTeaching your horse to wait is definetely an essential behaviour, and after this course, I've learned even more situations where this skill can come in handy, especially considering the fact that Trudi and Sooz are amazing in their explanations and how to better set the learner for sucess, resulting in a not only still, but also relaxed horse. Learning to build a good "wait" behaviour is a must in order to use positive reinforcement with horses and an amazing tool to solve unwanted behaviours.
